On January 22, 2026, Sound School’s own Charles Pickett was inducted into the Connecticut Veterans Hall of Fame. Currently serving as the VFW Department of Connecticut Commander and English teacher extraordinaire at Sound, Charlie was honored for his tireless community contributions following his military service. His distinguished military career included seven years of service, featuring tours in Iraq and Afghanistan with the US Army Corps of Engineers followed by time in the CT Army National Guard. A highly decorated veteran, Pickett’s honors include the Combat Action Badge and three Army Commendation Medals.
