On Saturday, the Sailing Team hosted the annual Joe Mangenello Regatta. Only two visiting teams were able to attend this year - Xavier and Cape Cod Academy - and each had two boats. With Sound's 4 boats, there were 8 boats in the fleet. Each boat was racing individually with scores added up over the course of the regatta. Only 4 races were held as the wind rose the wind rose from 12 knots/gusting 15 knots at 9am to 16knots, gusting 22 at 10:40am. There were some capsizes, but all the sailors were able to rescue their own boats. Kudos to all the sailors for their skill and resilience in handling the wind.
Sound School's lead boat, finishing 4th  (and winning one race) was skippered by team captain Willow Oliverira and crewed first be Savana Bertanza and then by Molly Monahan. Following in 6th place was skipper Lily Doniere with crews Gia Laverty and Judah Stanek. In 7th was skipper Elias Jeuland with crews Andrew Rankin and Alana Doheny and in 8th was skipper Elle Soto with crew Ava Leigh. Aside from the Captain most of the sailors are new the sport and handled themselves very well under challenging conditions.
